I agree in part about the fall of the CV. I don't think it will happen as fast as you are predicting, even in the US? I also think it will happen in some industries to start not all, and then eventually over a longer period of time, other sectors may follow. That's my predication. Where I live, in New Zealand, it will take much longer, however, I do think it will eventually happen as with ongoing technological advancements.

Thank you very much John for your appreciation of the example.
There is hope indeed that corporations in India will help lift people out of poverty. Traditionally the Indian public has viewed companies with suspicion to say the least. This is perhaps a legacy of the struggle against colonialism (a reminiscence of the East Indian Company). I personally think that with companies carrying out such CSR initiatives, their general reputation will be enhanced. In addition, people can then realize that companies with genuine CSR are committed to making a difference for society...

Hey Eugene,
Thanks for the great example on hygiene from India ... I agree with you, Unilever did a great job! If we measure it up against the key success factors I had mentioned earlier in my post, they would score really high on strategic fit, engagement, horizontal approach, and sustainability! What I love most about the example you shared Eugene is the factor of empowerment ... i'm reminded of a lesson my dad shared with me, it went something like this "if a person comes up to you begging for money, you can give it to him and help him for a day or two, or you can teach him a trade and help him for a lifetime"
