The SECRET to NOT WORKING another day in your life

I wasn’t always a personal branding strategist, in fact, I never even specialized in marketing. I graduated with a generic bachelor’s degree in business then did my masters in international business then after that I went on to specialize in management consulting. Nowhere through the course of my education did I take more than 4 courses of marketing – yet, here I am today known for my branding expertise.

So if it wasn’t my education that got me here, what was it then? Passion! Yes, passion is an unequivocal component of success. My love for that “je ne sais quoi” is what drove me towards choosing branding as a profession. Coupled with my strong belief in the human potential, our uniqueness as individuals, and our God-given right to stand out and be different, that richness of the human brain is what made me want to make branding personal!

A key element of a successful personal brand is unearthing your passion. This is what I got when I googled the word passion: “~ is a very strong feeling about a person or thing. Passion is an intense emotion, compelling enthusiasm or desire for anything.” Here’s how I would describe it” Passion is something that wakes you in the middle of the night; it’s something you don’t mind talking about all the time, and when you do, you never seem to tire; it’s something you can’t help but see everywhere you look; it’s something that compels you to scream; it’s something that makes your heart beat faster, your mind race at the speed of light, your soul to ascend to the highest heights … that my dear reader is passion, and that is what personal branding is to me.

So think of it … what’s your passion?

• What fascinates you
• What excites you
• What turns you on
• What gives you a rush
• What could you go on talking about for hours
• What would make you get out of bed at 6 am
• What would keep you up all night

If you unveil your passion, I promise you will never have to work another day of your life. Here’s what I need you to ask yourself after having played around with the previous notion. See money is always an obstacle on the way to success. It stops us from dreaming, it forces us to “get real”. That monster called “money” is just an illusion you created as an excuse to not try because you’re afraid to fail! So for this exercise, I’ll help you put that monster back in its cage for a couple of minutes. Now, think of your passion, that one thing you’d love to do all the time IF YOU HAD ALL THE MONEY YOU EVER WISHED FOR. Can you see it? Do you feel a little tingle? Is that a smile on your face? I’m not a mind reader, it’s just that I was there once, not so long ago, so I really know how you feel.
